Jólabókaflóð Should Be Your New Favorite Holiday Tradition! 🎁
If you're not familiar with Jólabókaflóð hashtag
(try saying that three times fast!), don’t worry – I’ve got you covered. It’s the wonderful Icelandic tradition of exchanging books on
hashtag
Christmas Eve. Yes, books. And it’s as magical as it sounds.
Here’s the thing: Imagine a holiday where instead of frantically running around for last-minute gifts, you get to spend the evening curled up with a new book, a warm cup of cocoa, and the blissful feeling that you just made the most thoughtful gift exchange of the year. No crowds, no stress. Just pure bookish joy. Sounds perfect, right?
✨ The Secret Behind
hashtag
Jólabókaflóð: It all started in Iceland during World War II when paper was one of the few things that wasn’t rationed. The tradition of giving books became a way to share stories and bring comfort during the winter months. Fast forward to today, and it’s become a national phenomenon—Iceland has one of the highest literacy rates in the world, and it’s no surprise when you realize how much they love their books!
📖 Why You Should Adopt This Tradition:
1. No More “Gift Panic”: Forget running around trying to figure out what to get your cousin’s new boyfriend (who you’ve never met). A book is always a winner. Plus, it’s so much more meaningful than a gift card with an impersonal “Enjoy!” attached.
2. You’ll Actually Read Your Gift: How many of us have received random gifts over the years that ended up in the back of a closet? With a book, there’s an immediate promise to unwrap and dive in. You won’t just like it—you’ll love it. No awkward “I’ll re-gift it” moments.
3. You’ll Be the Coziest One at the Party: While everyone else is battling the holiday chaos, you’ll be sipping tea, wrapped in a blanket, and reading a great book. (And probably looking so content that people will wonder what your secret is. Spoiler: It’s books!)
4. Start the Year with Knowledge: We all know January 1st is the day to start a “new chapter” (pun intended). Why not begin with a book that can inspire, educate, or make you laugh?
So this year, why not adopt Jólabókaflóð? Exchange books with your friends, family, or colleagues on Christmas Eve, and enjoy the peace, joy, and excitement that come with diving into a new story.
It’s simple, it’s meaningful, and it might just become your favorite new holiday tradition. Plus, when in doubt, books are always the answer.

Book Bank - A Game Changer!

At St. Francis Institute Of Technology, students are always on the lookout for ways to make their academic journey smoother. Among the many resources available, the Book Bank facility extended by our Library has stood out as a hidden gem 📚✨. It wasn’t just about having access to textbooks; it was about empowerment—the freedom to borrow not just the usual 6 books, but two extra textbooks 📖📖, with the added bonus of a longer borrowing period ⏳.

Take Tejas, for example. As a final-year engineering student 🛠️, he often found himself juggling multiple projects and assignments. With exams around the corner 📝, he realized that some of his textbooks were in high demand at the library. But thanks to the Book Bank, Tejas was able to borrow extra books well in advance, easing the pressure of last-minute studying 📚🔥.

He isn’t alone. 1,745 students have already benefited from the facility, discovering how much easier it made their studies 🎓. Whether it was avoiding the stress of competing for books, or having extra time to go through textbooks in-depth, the Book Bank had become an academic lifesaver for many 🌟.
Tejas’s hashtagsuccessstory was just one of many, and now, he made sure to spread the word to his juniors: "If you’re serious about succeeding, use the hashtagBookBank. It's not just a service—it’s a game-changer!" 😎🎉

♟️ Why our library at St. Francis Institute Of Technology Embraced Chess for Students 📚

At St. Francis Institute Of Technology, we're not just focused on building future hashtagengineers and tech experts—we’re committed to shaping minds that can thrive in a fast-paced, hashtagAI-driven world. That's why we’ve brought hashtagchess into our hashtaglibrary. The game is not just about moving pieces; it’s a powerful tool for personal development, and here's why:

A Mental Gym for the Brain – Did you know that chess is known as a "cognitive workout"? It exercises the brain in ways that smartphones and gadgets can't. In a world increasingly dominated by AI, being able to think critically, predict outcomes, and solve problems is more important than ever. Just like coding or machine learning, chess requires you to think several steps ahead!

Problem-Solving Skills for the Future – Every game of chess is a battle of wits. From deciding whether to attack or defend, to choosing the right piece for the job, chess teaches you to solve complex problems under pressure. In the AI field, this ability to quickly analyze and adapt is a huge advantage.

Focus in a Distracted World – In a world where we’re bombarded with notifications and distractions, chess teaches students to focus deeply, think long-term, and develop patience. These are crucial skills, whether you're building the next AI system or designing the future of technology.

Take hashtaginspiration from Gukesh Dommaraju, the 17-year-old hashtagchess prodigy from hashtagIndia, who is shaking up the world of hashtaggrandmasters. Gukesh's victory at 13 years old in defeating several top grandmasters made headlines, proving that strategic thinking honed in chess can pave the way for extraordinary achievements. His rise in the chess world is proof that the skills learned on the chessboard—concentration, strategic planning, and foresight—are directly transferable to the tech world.

We’re excited to see our students at SFIT develop not just as future engineers but as thinkers who can tackle the complexities of AI and technology with clarity, strategy, and focus. 🌟
