Jane Eyre is a classic novel narrating the story of Jane - the protagonist, her understanding of relationships and her desire to find respect and shelter. It is set in the Victorian era. As such the elements of the Gothic structures namely Gateshead Hall, Lowood Institution, Thornfield Hall and Moor House come alive while reading the novel.

Jane is living a troubled life with Mrs. Reed and her children bullying her physically and mentally. She is punished for no fault of hers in a Red Room which eventually leaves her traumatized. But with well wishers, she manages to go to a school at Lowood Institution and spends many years as a pupil and as a teacher. Her fate takes her to discover unknown places and explore people and their uncanny behaviour as a governess to a pretty girl. Little does she know that the man she is looking for - Mr. Rochester is deceiving her. Or is he not? Should she accept St. John's proposal for marriage because he knows her past? In between she has also discovered that she has inherited £20,000 from her uncle whom she has never met. What will she do now?
