Happier Times are my Childhood Days!

Happiness comes in bundles as a child and more so as a school going kid. Summer, Diwali and Christmas vacations, the dhak-dhak before final exam results, the pain of shuffled classes, the smell of new books, the afternoons spent in covering books and the never ending promises made to myself that this year onward, I will always write the date with good hand writing ðŸ¤£before starting to write anything in my notebook and the cuddling up with a Nancy Drew Case files with stained (with mango juices) frocks and running to the nearby library before it closes for the day are my memories which are still afresh in my mind and heart. Did I mention eating ripe water apples, green amlas with salt and chilli powder, Manila Tamrind (विलायती चिंच/ગોરસ આંબલી), playing cards and the list will go on and on...All of us are blessed to have had a blissful childhood where we learnt soft skills, craft, pottery, flower making without even shelling a penny from our parent's pockets. What are your Happier Times as a Child?

Of all the books I read in Marathi as a child, these are some of my favourite ones:

Mrityunjay by Shivaji Sawant: It narrates the story of "Karna" of Mahabharata.

Shyamchi Aai by Pandurang Sadashiv Sane was first published in 1935 and is an autobiographical account of the renowned "Sane Guruji" who is till date acclaimed as one of the Best Teachers.

Shriman Yogi by Ranjit Desai: A biographical novel depicting the life and achievements of the great ruler and warrior of the Maratha kingdom - the most respectable Shivaji Maharaj. This novel has created history in the world literature. A mut read for all.
